Ryan Scott Erenhouse was born on March 14, 1973 in New York.  He and his wife Marianna were married on June 30, 2001. They have one son, Walter Allen, and live in Washington, DC with their dog Barnaby.

Ryan spent the first part of his life living on Long Island in Merrick and Greak Neck, New York. At the age of 14, Ryan and his family moved into their summer home in Pownal, Vermont.  Ryan attended Pine Cobble in Williamstown, Massachusetts and then Mt. Anthony Union High School in Bennington, Vermont.  During the summer of 1989, Ryan traveled to the Soviet Union as part of a student ambassador program sponsored by People to People.

Ryan and his family moved again to South Londonderry Vermont where he completed his high school years at Vermont Academy in Saxtons River, Vermont, graduating in 1991.

From age 9 until 20, Ryan spent all but two summers at Camp Taconic in Hinsdale, Massachusetts both as a camper and later as a counselor.

Ryan attended the University of Vermont (UVM) in Burlington, Vermont and graduated in May of 1995 with a BA in Political Science.  During his time at UVM, Ryan skied, served on the Judicial Council, the Ariel Yearbook staff, worked as a Teaching Assistant, and interned in Senator Jim Jeffords' District Office in Montpelier.

Upon graduating from UVM, Ryan moved to Washington, DC to work in the office of Senator Jeffords as the Assistant to the Chief of Staff.  He immediately found his niche, joining the Capitol Hill Club, the National Republican Social Club of Washington, DC, and serving as the President of the UVM Alumni Association for the DC metro area.  Ryan also participated in the EverybodyWins literacy program for five years.

Ryan worked for Senator Jeffords for seven years, serving as his Special Assistant, and volunteered on President George W. Bush's election campaign. When Senator Jeffords made the decision to leave the Republican Party, Ryan left the office to become the Deputy Director of Government Affairs for the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and has continued to stay active in Republican politics.

Ryan has one brother, Chad, who lives in Vermont along with his mother, Joann, who is a lawyer. His father, Ron, lives in Chesterfield, New Hampshire and is a psychologist.
